Dear Sir:
By this letter, I wish to express our satisfaction towards the use of the GDD Chain+Level with the integrated Multi-Carnet software.
The Chain+Level enabled us to take the data required in the realization of plans and profiles for the construction of a 20-kilometer forest road. Since the road had not been deforested previously, the Chain+Level was the only instrument, to our knowledge, that could allow us to do the work without having to deforest a central line.
The results obtained were comparable, in terms of quality, to those obtained with a total station. Also, the integration of the electronic notebook has the advantage of giving the user the possibility to transmit data directly to a computer, therefore minimizing work delays and risks of error. The data taking in terms of daily production was satisfying. In favourable conditions, a two-man crew could do up to 2 kilometers of road per day.
In conclusion, the Chain+Level helped us reach our goal which consisted in producing plans and profiles where cut and fill estimates can allow an estimate of construction costs.
Thanking you and your team for the collaboration and support during the realization of this work, I remain,
Yours truly,
DONOHUE ST-FELICIEN INC.

Dear Sir:
This letter is to express our satisfaction towards the results obtained with your Chain+Level integrating a datalogger for data taken in the field.
Our problems were resolved thanks to your instrument. Indeed, for transversal sections in wooden areas, the data taking required a five-man team including two sawchain men and line cutting on privatemsites risked to be expensive. Further, our progression was too slow and too much costly for the time that was allowed.
With your instrument, we eliminated trees cutting, our team has been reducted of two people and the quickness of data taking was increased by three to four times with keeping a very satisfying precision for the needs of the work to be done (0,2 % of the height differences).
With our total station, we implanted the future center line of the planned road, but the transversal sections taking every twenty meters became expensive and difficult without taking into account the risks of injuries. The average advanced at a range of 100 to 125 meters per day while, with your craft, besides we eliminate employees, costs, risks and complaints, we increased our progression to 400 and even 500 meters per day with results as satisfying and datas compatible with "GDA" for the needs of the engineering of our Ministry.
The efficiency, the economy and the facility of treating data with a data logger well adapted will make this instrument play a prominent role in the transversal sections taking for road projects in wooden fields and I even would say, in open areas. It would be important to lead a pilot-project to measure exactly the economies made with the Chain+Level. Hoping the future will allow us, I will be greatly interested in being included in this project that, I am sure of it, will be very tell-tale, just like the work we made recently.
Thanking you for your most professional services,
Yours very truly,
Land-surveying and Geomatic,

By using the Chain+Level in the United States and Canada for the past six months, BHP was able to drastically cut its gravity survey production costs. The following is a list of benefits obtained:
1. Compared to a standard optical level, the daily productivity of our team was increased by 300%.
2. The precision of each gravity station was within our standards of 3-4 centimetres per station. For example, a typical closure error on a one-kilometre line was 10 cm (0,3 feet). The error on each was less than 2 cm (0,1 feet).
3. No line cutting was necessary, especially in the mountain areas, thus reducing survey costs by more than 60%.
4. Because of the levelling survey took much less time, thanks to the Chain+Level, the gravity survey was not hindered by the levelling crew, thus increasing production by a factor of 2 to 3 times.
5. The purchase cost of the Chain+Level was assumed within four weeks of surveying when compared to the cost of line cutting plus the use of an optical level.
6. We were also involved in testing the new Chain+Level with an integrated data logger. Faster than the current version, it allows to dump data on a PC at the end of each day.
In purchasing a GDD Chain+Level, we have been able to reduce our gravity survey costs to a degree in which we can consider using this technique as a standard geophysical survey instead of a selective survey based on budget requirements.
