GDD Profile

Instrumentation GDD Inc. was established in Quebec in 1977 by Edwin Gaucher, Regis Desbiens and Rejean Desbiens. At the head office, located at 860, boul. Chaudiere, Quebec, Quebec, Canada, G1X 4B7, you find the production line, research laboratories and administration offices.

Instrumentation GDD Inc. is a world leader in high-tech geophysical and electronic instrumentation for mining exploration geophysics and environmental levelling surveys. Since 1977, it has developed, manufactured and sold a wide range of electromagnetic (EM), levelling and induced polarization geophysical instruments.

On present time, GDD's team still includes two of its founders, Edwin Gaucher and Regis Desbiens. In 1991, Pierre Gaucher joined the team. The academic formation of each one, combined to a solid professional experience, makes them the pillars of the company.

Edwin Gaucher is a geological engineer who holds a Ph.D. of Harvard University, Massachusetts (1960). He has a vast experience in geophysics. Indeed, in 1978, he founded Geosig Inc. with Regis Desbiens, a consulting firm specialized in geophysics, that they managed until 1995. Before, he had been vice-president of research and exploration at SOQUEM (Societe quebecoise d'exploration miniere) for over 10 years.

Regis Desbiens is an engineer who holds a degree in physical engineering (systems) of Laval University in Quebec (1976). During four years, he worked for Spar Aerospace Technologies in Montreal. His tasks included the conception of test equipments and units used in space for the SRMS (Shuttle Remote Manipulator System) of the space shuttles.

As for Pierre Gaucher, he holds a degree in mining engineering of Laval University in Quebec (1981) and has a Master of Business Administration (finances) of the Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales, in Montreal (1986). He worked during five years for IBM Canada Limited as a system engineer. He also worked during two years as a mining engineer, foreman and captain of an underground mine for Corporation Teck, Lamaque Division , in Val d'Or.

GDD's team of researchers, engineering design personal and technicians is always committed to solving problems related to mining exploration, and the satisfaction of their clients is first in their priority list. GDD is renowned for its customer service and its very rugged and reliable instrumentation.

GDD is now considered as a world leader in terms of state-of-the-art electronical instrumentation.
